Blackfyne FC Walking Footballers Lift Portuguese Tournament Trophy

The Blackfyne teams travelled to Portugal from 18–20 September to compete in the Browns Walking Football Tournament, and both the Over 60s and Over 65s produced impressive performances against strong opposition.

The Over 60s successfully negotiated their group stage to reach the semi-finals, where they were narrowly beaten in a closely contested encounter. They responded in style, however, securing a third-place finish to complete an excellent tournament.

There was further success for Blackfyne in the Over 65s competition. The team went unbeaten throughout the group stage before progressing through the knockout rounds to reach the final.

With the final finely balanced, the destination of the trophy was eventually decided by penalties — and it was Blackfyne who held their nerve to secure the victory and lift the tournament trophy.

The weekend was a fantastic experience for everyone involved, combining competitive football with the opportunity to represent Blackfyne FC on an international stage.

Both teams can be hugely proud of their performances, with the Over 65s returning home as tournament winners and the Over 60s finishing an impressive third.

Congratulations to all of the players and everyone who travelled to Portugal and helped make it such a memorable trip for Blackfyne FC. 🏆🇵🇹👏
